New SW Borders Embossing Folders From Cricut

I found these embossing folder borders with SouthWest designs from Cricut and knew that I had to have them and I had to get them for my mom.

Here is what they look like:

The only examples I've seen so far just use one border along the bottom or side.  I'm going to try to emboss the same folder over and over again for a background.

RIP Neil Armstrong

Hi all,

Growing up I wanted to be an astronaut...to go to Mars. That dream was put aside when I was a Senior in High School and realized that an injury to my eye as a kid meant that was not going to happen.  But space travel has been near and dear to me.  I am too young to remember the moon landing and Neil Armstrong's "small step", but my mom realized the importance of this and put my in front of the TV (I was about 18 months old) so that I could always say that while I don't remember it, I watched it.

Neil Armstrong's death has, of course, brought that occasion to the forefront of our thoughts and I wanted to let my mom know how much it means to me that I am able to say that I watched that, even though I don't remember that.  So I made her a card to tell her that.

The card base is SU's Not Quite Navy and Dustin Pike's digi moon was printed on white cardstock.  The flag is on a toothpick that I got at Hobby Lobby.  I removed the toothpick and used a Sharpie silver paint pen for the flag's staff.

Fab Friday Challenge 03

I have had more free time on my hands lately, so I've been making cards.  This one is for a challenge...the Fab Friday Blog challenge.  It is not the most recent challenge, but #03.  It is this sketch:

And here is my take:

The base is Marco's Paper Carnival Cover.  The giraffe paper is from The Paper Studio's Safari paper pack.  The image is from Local King Rubber Stamps and is from the set "Love Reaches New Heights".

Cinco de Mayo

I got the new OlĂ© Cricut cartridge and wanted to play with it so I made Cinco de Mayo cards!  I cut out the letters 3 times in 4 colors to get a different color combo for each letter.  Thank goodness for my Xyron!  I've had this Mexico paper for several years now, not knowing what to do with it...it was perfect for this!

4th of July Cards

Here is one of the 4th of July cards I made.  I used this week's sketch from Clean & Simple Stamping.

The sketch was perfect for 4th of July cards and gave me much needed inspiration!  I had the red base and the blue embossed with stars and the liberty, but the first card I made lacked excitement.

Paper:  a nice deep red from Marco's paper, generic white card stock, and a shiny blue from The Paper Cut called So...Silk Fair Blue.
Ink: None
Stamps: None
Accessories:  Embossing folders:  D'vine Swirl and Swiss Dots by Cuttlebug and Stars by Crafts Too; Cricut cartridge Stand and Salute; Stampin Up! star punches

Father's Day cards

Well, you can tell from the date of my last post when my job became very time consuming!!!  Here are the cards I made for Father's Day:

I was running low on inspiration and so I hopped on to SplitCoastSampers to see what others were doing.  Well, I found some cards that were absolutely fabulous and so I started creating my own - I need three!

Traffic Jam card

I found a card that used the Traffic Jam embossing folder from Cuttlebug.  I've had this forever, but haven't really used it.  I like how the simplicity of the card allows the embossing to stand out.   Here is the card that inspired this one.

Cardstock:  The card  base is a tan color from The Paper Cut, the darker brown is Sizzix suede and is embossed.  The blue strip, which has a slight design on it, is from a pack of paper that is made with recycled paper and from Wal-Mart.  I don't remember the company's name, but is has recycled in it.  Accessories:  Cricut All Mixed Up cartridge, Cuttlebug Swiss Dots and Traffic Jam embossing folders.

Star card

I CASEd this card.  I used browns with a rust color as the accent.  I just love this mulberry paper from Marco's paper - it has speckles of different browns in it.

Cardstock:  Rattan from The Paper Cut, mulberry paper from Marco's Paper, scraps.
Stamps:  Happy Father's Day from Aunt Amy's
Ink:  Adirondack Cabin Fever
Accessories:  Large SU star punch, Cuttlebug embossing folders - D'Vine Swirls, Swiss Dots and one that I don't know the name of.

Squares card

I used the layout from this card and used this card as the inspiration to add texture by embossing.

Cardstock: Jellybean green by The Paper Cut, mulberry paper from Marco's Paper, browns/tans are unknown and the striped paper is from the Safari pack by The Paper Studio.
Ink: I used black ink to edge the brown layer.
Accessories:  brads, Cuttlebug embossing folders, Swiss Dots and ?.

Happy Father's Day!
