Sympathy Cards

Unfortunately, I have needed several Sympathy cards this year.

A masculine card for a friend that lost a son.

Another masculine one with a beautiful saying.

Several...the one in the lower right has embossing that doesn't show up very well, so below is a close up photo.

Baseball cards

I made some cards for a friend to send to her friend who loves baseball.  The one that says "Baseball is life" is the one I sent to her with the others packaged as a set for her to mail.

Classic Pickups

At the last stamping/scraping convention I found this flames embossing folder by Darice.  I'd been thinking about a card for my uncle's birthday and I was leaning towards a card using the old SU set "Classic Trucks".  The one I was thinking about has flames on it and this would make a perfect background.

Ink: Memento Tuxedo
Paper:  SU Glorious Green, GP White,  unknown yellow paper
Color: Colorbox rainbow pad, red, orange and some yellow
Stamps:  Classic Trucks:
Accessories:  Darice Flames embossing folder, SU watercolor pencils

After embossing the flames, I cut out some of them, then sponged the red/orange/yellow on it.  I colored the truck with the watercolor pencils and then lightly blended it.

Now that I've sent it (of course, it always seems to work this way) I think that using the SU tire roller to put tire tracks under the flames across the green might have been good.  Maybe I'll make another one!

Father's Day cards

Well, you can tell from the date of my last post when my job became very time consuming!!!  Here are the cards I made for Father's Day:

I was running low on inspiration and so I hopped on to SplitCoastSampers to see what others were doing.  Well, I found some cards that were absolutely fabulous and so I started creating my own - I need three!

Traffic Jam card

I found a card that used the Traffic Jam embossing folder from Cuttlebug.  I've had this forever, but haven't really used it.  I like how the simplicity of the card allows the embossing to stand out.   Here is the card that inspired this one.

Cardstock:  The card  base is a tan color from The Paper Cut, the darker brown is Sizzix suede and is embossed.  The blue strip, which has a slight design on it, is from a pack of paper that is made with recycled paper and from Wal-Mart.  I don't remember the company's name, but is has recycled in it.  Accessories:  Cricut All Mixed Up cartridge, Cuttlebug Swiss Dots and Traffic Jam embossing folders.

Star card

I CASEd this card.  I used browns with a rust color as the accent.  I just love this mulberry paper from Marco's paper - it has speckles of different browns in it.

Cardstock:  Rattan from The Paper Cut, mulberry paper from Marco's Paper, scraps.
Stamps:  Happy Father's Day from Aunt Amy's
Ink:  Adirondack Cabin Fever
Accessories:  Large SU star punch, Cuttlebug embossing folders - D'Vine Swirls, Swiss Dots and one that I don't know the name of.

Squares card

I used the layout from this card and used this card as the inspiration to add texture by embossing.

Cardstock: Jellybean green by The Paper Cut, mulberry paper from Marco's Paper, browns/tans are unknown and the striped paper is from the Safari pack by The Paper Studio.
Ink: I used black ink to edge the brown layer.
Accessories:  brads, Cuttlebug embossing folders, Swiss Dots and ?.

Happy Father's Day!

Father's Day Cards

I made 3 Father's Day cards this year (like always!).  I'm triply blessed!

The first one is made from some scrapbook paper that I've had forever. I cut out along the bottom around the race cars and then glued it onto a sheet of green paper

that matched (almost too perfectly, since you can't see where the green front wing of the
race car ends and the background paper begins) the color of one of the race cars. The c
ard is 9.5" x 4" to fit in a regular legal sized envelope. Walmart has them in such nice colors! I then cut a mat out of the same green that was wider than the sentiment so that it mimicked the card being wider than the white paper.

Stamp: Thinking of Father from SU!
Cardstock: AC Cardstock, primaries
Paper: ???
Ink: SU's Basic Black

The second card utilizes an image I've had for a couple of years. I really liked the image and so

couldn't bear to use it, but finally found the perfect card to make with it. The image came from a make and take at the Grapevine or Mesquite convention with Judy of B & J's Art Stamps, so all the stamps are theirs. I should have bought the main stamp because I like it so much. Maybe this year! The background was stamped with one of their background stamps, of which I have several. I love the brushed look! Judy has us stamp the whole background with a light color (in this case a yellow color) and then around the edges with a darker color (Indian Rouge and Patina Beauty). Once the background is stamped, we stamped the Indian with black, covered the whole thing with sparkly EP and heat gunned it. Next we stamped in the Patina Beauty two background stamps in the corners. Finally, we used Versamark to emboss the edges of the card with bronze EP. I put this on teal paper.

The last card was an easy card, nice and simple. At the Arlington convention this month, I bought some paper from Scrapbookers Painted Page. One of the papers I bought was of a sea plane on a lake. My step-father likes planes and I thought this would make a great card for him. I used a whole

sheet of 8.5" x 11" piece of cardstock and folded it in half to make a larger card. I used a red color from AC (American Crafts). I glued the paper on the cardstock and then punched an oval through the front of the card using the SU medium oval punch. I masked the oval and stamped the word JOY on the inside of the card through the oval. The JOY came from SU's Small Words set.

Toolbox Card

I "borrowed" a layout from a friend but the design is all mine...not that others might have come up with it also, but I didn't see any of them first! LOL

It is a masculine card; I think I'm going to use it for my Dad's birthday card.

Paper: black cardstock, silver envelope liner used as paper
Punch: Martha Stewart's Happy Birthday
Accessories: Cuttlebug Embossing Folder - Diamond Plate, screw brads
